82 Items To Return For ‘Survivor: Ghost Island’

For the upcoming 36th season of Survivor, the show will be bringing back many notable items, rather than contestants, from the show’s past. But these won’t be just any items. They will all be items that were misplayed their first time around. It’s an interesting concept that I’m a little skeptical about, though nonetheless still very interested in seeing how it all plays out. While some of the items aren’t quite as attention-grabbing as others (for example one Snuffer from every season will be present), many of the returning items will be call backs to iconic moments from the show’s history. It comes off as an ode to Survivor super fans. I’m curious how first-time viewers will like this history-centric season. Although it is still yet uncertain how many of the 82 items will actually play a part in the season, and how many will just be there as a decoration and reminder of past mistakes. One interesting tidbit. There was nothing listed from Survivor’s first season, Borneo. Could they have something special in mind that they want to keep under wraps?

But on to the fun stuff. Entertainment Weekly got the exclusive, revealing all 82 items that will be returning. They also have a cool photo gallery showing the first images of the actual Ghost Island shelter. You can head over to the EW article to check out the complete list of featured items, but I’ll highlight a few that I’m particularly excited about seeing again (in no particular order).

Millennials v. Gen X: David’s fake idol
A true work of art that resulted in fan favorite Jay being voted out in one of the best and most enjoyable vote-outs in the show’s history.

Micronesia: Ozzy’s Fake Idol
While David’s idol is probably the best ever fake immunity idol, Ozzy’s has to be the worst. Literally a stick with a face on it. To Eliza’s credit, she knew it wasn’t an idol, but it did give us the now-famous quote: “It’s a f*cking stick.” I really hope this one comes back as a legitimate idol this time around.

Heroes v. Healers v. Hustlers: Lauren’s immunity idol
This one will be coming back just one season later, after being tossed into the Tribal Council fire by Dr. Mike.

China: James’ unused immunity idol
Still considered one of the worst moves ever in Survivor, James was voted off holding not one, but two hidden immunity idols. One will be making a triumphant(?) return on Ghost Island.

Survivor returns for its 36th season, Ghost Island, on February 28th on CBS.
