Alright meow, it’s been 17 looooong years but we have finally have the first footage of the sequel to 2002’s Super Troopers. And I must say, it looks promising. Comedy sequels are a tricky business; it’s hard to live up to the original. But this first trailer feels just like the first Super Troopers, but not in a “carbon copy” kind of way. Sure they’re still up to their same immature (read: hilarious) antics, but these guys know comedy, they know themselves, and perhaps most importantly, they know what the fans want. . And given that an incredibly successful Indiegogo campaign is funding the movie, they’d be wise to keep that in mind. Luckily for us, early indications are they did just that.
Super Troopers 2 opens April 20th of this year.
P.S. Out of curiosity I checked the Rotten Tomatoes page for Super Troopers. Critics score of 35% and audience score of 90%? I don’t have a list, but that has to rate up there among movies with the highest disparity between the two scores.
