Bob Bryan announced via Instagram that he is withdrawing from the upcoming French Open due to a hip injury. He and twin brother Mike had appeared in the previous 76 Grand Slam tournaments. They had not missed one since the 1999 Australian Open. The duo has won the French Open twice, including their first ever Grand Slam title in 2003. They also won at Roland Garros in 2013.
The brothers are a fan favorite and Bob’s presence will surely be missed. Mike will still be playing in the tournament, partnering with fellow American Sam Querrey. Luckily the absence is expected to be short-lived, as Bob says in his Instagram post he is planning to be ready for the upcoming grass court season.
So in the absence of the greatest doubles team of all time, take a look back at some of their best points.
