As has long been speculated, we appear to have confirmation that Avengers: Endgame will be longest movie yet in the MCU. The AMC landing page for the movie shows a run time of 3 hours and 2 minutes.
For almost any other movie, a run time this large might be cause for concern. A heavy run time can derail even the best movies. Rare is the movie where a full three hours is absolutely necessary. One of my biggest gripes with many movies these days is that they run too long. Directors seem unwilling to cut out too many scenes, so they end up leaving too much in. And that’s often to the detriment of their movies.
That being said, give me all of the minutes. I do not care about run time when it comes to Marvel. They have a blank check as far as I’m concerned. This movie could be four hours for all I care. Heck, make it five. And when you look at the core production team behind Infinity War and Endgame (along with a number of other MCU movies)? You have Kevin Feige producing, brothers Anthony and Joe Russo directing, Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely writing the script, and cinematographer Trent Opaloch. They’ve earned the right to take as much time as they want to finish this story, and I have complete and total confidence in this creative team.
Avengers: Endgame opens in theaters April 26th.
