We haven’t even hit March yet but we already have our first contender for Song of the Summer 2018. O.A.R.’s “Just Like Paradise” has definite summer time vibes and it’s clear this song will be rocking all the way through August. It has the title, it’s got that smooth, windows down beat (and I really dig the background tambourine) that conjures up images of hanging out on the beach, and its lyrics scream summer.
“She mixes the pineapple with dark rum”
“We’re burning in the sunshine, she squeezes the lime”
“A little bit of sun and a pretty miss”
Those are just a few examples. The whole song’s purpose is to make you wish for life to fast forward to summer right now (but with a quick pit stop for March Madness of course). I know every year there are always a number of “songs of the summer” and I can’t wait to hear them all, but O.A.R. got us off to a great start.
