RAW Tag Team Championship Match: Seth Rollins and Jason Jordan (c) vs. Cesaro and Sheamus
The new and awkward tag team of Seth Rollins and Jason Jordan have only been champs for a few weeks and they are already having chemistry issues. Cesaro and Sheamus, on the other hand, are seasoned vets capable of holding these titles for a long time. This already seems like the tenth time we’ve seen some variation of this match, and it should be the last for a while.
What I Hope Will Happen:
I still don’t think it is time to take the titles off of Rollins and Jordan with so much left to explore in their strange relationship, so I’m hoping they retain and Jason Jordan can continue with his arrogant character that fans are really starting to hate. Ideally, Jordan would pull some shenanigans that screw over Cesaro and Sheamus because I want to see if it’s possible for people to hate him more.
What Will Actually Happen:
I think WWE knows it has an interesting thing going with Rollins and Jordan and will continue to leave the belts on them for at least a few more weeks. Cesaro and Sheamus have had their time and giving the titles back to them would feel like recycling tag team champions just for the sake of title changes. Then again, the WWE is also shockingly out of touch with its fan base, so I could see Rollins and Jordan’s run ending prematurely for no reason at all.
SmackDown Tag Team Championship Match: The Usos (Jey and Jimmy Uso) (c) vs. Chad Gable and Shelton Benjamin
Jey and Jimmy have had the SmackDown titles on lock (their words, not mine) for a while now, while Gable and Benjamin are settling in to being a legitimate tag team. I haven’t really been a fan of Gable’s generic bad guy character lately, which is a testament to how poorly management is using him – I’ve loved him since he was on NXT. I don’t even know how this feud started, so it’s hard to care a whole lot, but this should be a good match nonetheless with a 2-out-of-3 falls stipulation to determine who walks out with the titles.
What I Hope Will Happen:
It’s time to give Gable and Benjamin the titles and see if it works. The WWE can always go back to the Usos if this experiment fails. I’d love for Gable to wreck everyone and win in relatively clean fashion, reminding us all of how exciting he was in NXT with Jason Jordan as his partner.
What Will Actually Happen:
This is another match where I’m feeling WWE will do what I’m hoping. Gable and Benjamin have gotten a number of opportunities lately and it would all seem a bit pointless if they just kept losing. If I had to guess, I’d say Gable scores the pinfall after some unnecessary questionable ethics.
