Song: Countdown

Artist: Dangerkids

Genre: Rock

I am sure many people have never heard of this band. In the early 2000s I am sure many of you listened to Linkin Park though, and I would be willing to bet many of you liked them a lot. Linkin Park was great, and still is very good, but in a different way now. Old Linkin Park was so fresh and different. Everyone loved their music, and you couldn’t find anyone like them. That is until Dangerkids. I am going to make a bold statement, that being Dangerkids is a much better version of old Linking Park.

Verses: 10/10

The verses in this song are incredible. Countdown in general is a huge pump up song. The rapping in combination with the screaming is plenty to get anyone hyped. Now I know what many of you will say, that the screaming is too much and it is too heavy. I would argue that the old Linkin Park was exactly the same, but everyone liked those screams. In such a pump up song, I think those screams add a lot to the excitement.

Chorus: 8/10

The chorus takes a while to play, but that is perfectly okay. It gives us a lot of good rapping, and that really built up to the chorus, that comes in big and is everything you would expect out of such an intense song.

Bridge: 7/10

The bridge is just kind of filler between the choruses to be honest. We do get some cool synth instruments here though, which Dangerkids often uses in their songs. This is one of the elements that sets them apart from old Linkin Park.

Singing/Rapping: 9/10

The singing is good and is what it needs to be for a hard and heavy pump up song. And I would say the rapping is the same. Is the rapping excellent rap by rapping standards? No, maybe not, but I am no expert. All I know is that it pumps me up, and I can really get into it.

Lyrics: 9/10

The lyrics are hard to hear the first couple times you listen to the songs. There is nothing super deep here, but the lyrics are great for a pump up song. Once you know the words it’s hard not to rap along and allow yourself to get pumped.

Overall: 8.5/10

This is one of my favorite Dangerkids songs, but not my favorite. I mainly chose it because it is a good song to compare to old Linkin Park. I highly recommend also checking out “Unmade” by Dangerkids. That is a more rap heavy song, but it is slow and very meaningful. Below are links for both
