The first trailer for Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom was released Thursday. I think we’re looking at what will be a good, wildly entertaining movie. My one worry is that it will lose a bit of its own identity in trying to set up the next film in the series. In Fallen Kingdom, taking place several years after the events of the previous film, Owen Grady (played by Chris Pratt) returns to Isla Nubar at the request of Claire Dearing (Bryce Dallas Howard). She needs his help in evacuating the dinosaurs as a cataclysmic event is fast approaching. While we have minimal plot details, and absolutely no information on the next film, we appear to be heading toward a disaster film with the dinos running amok on the mainland somewhere. Obviously Fallen Kingdom needs to do some work prepping the story line for the next entry; I just hope it’s not at the expense of itself. But hey, dinosaurs, Chris Pratt, and Jeff Goldblum. With those three pieces to build off of, I’m keeping my hopes up.
Jurassic Park: Fallen Kingdom will be released June 22, 2018.
