NY Post – A crazy shopper returned her Christmas tree to Costco this January for a refund — because it was “dead.”
Bizarrely, the woman apparently managed to get her money back in full despite taking the battered fir back a full 10 days after Dec. 25.
She was snapped at the checkout of the store in Santa Clara, Calif., by unimpressed shopper Scott Bentley, who was stuck in a line behind her.
He shared the photo on Facebook, writing: “I can’t make this stuff up.
This is just a weird story. Pathetic, but weird. What kind of person does it take to try to return a Christmas tree so long after Christmas? That’s how Christmas trees work. You buy one. You put it up through Christmas, maybe a little bit into January. You throw it out. Doing what she did is basically just a small time scam. I don’t envy the Costco employees who had to deal with her either. People can be petty. Angry, irrational customers in a store can be on a whole other level.
But on the other hand, you do have to kind of admire the gumption here though. She had to have know full well that Costco wouldn’t want to offer a refund for a dead tree that it had absolutely zero use for. Yet there she went, just up and goes for it. It’s still pathetic and dumb, but credit’s due where credit’s due.
