Main Card
Intercontinental Championship Match
The Miz (C) vs. Seth Rollins vs. Finn Balor
Excitement level: 9
Put one polished superstar who is great on the mic (The Miz) with another superstar who can give an all-time match on command (Seth Rollins) and then add another up-and-comer who still has some intrigue and isn’t too shabby in the ring himself (Finn Balor) and this is what you get. Despite the Intercontinental Championship being a second tier title, the build up to this match has been great with The Miz trying to turn Seth and Finn against each other. The match itself could also be the best of the night from a wrestling perspective.
Prediction: Finn Balor. Since he debuted and became the first ever WWE Universal Champion, Finn has been stagnant. Injuries and lack of direction with his character have held him back, and it feels like he really needs to win this title to get back on track.
RAW Tag Team Championship Match
Sheamus & Cesaro (C) vs. Braun Strowman & mystery partner
Excitement level: 6
While WWE has proven not to care a whole lot about telling stories with either the RAW or SmackDown Tag Team Championships, I’m oddly excited to see what happens in this match. We’ve been given no indication of who Braun Strowman’s tag partner will be, and that’s what I’m looking forward to the most. I’m also hoping we will get one or two superhuman feats of strength from Cesaro and/or Strowman.
Prediction: Braun Strowman & mystery partner. Like I said, the tag titles haven’t been given much importance as of late, so giving them to Braun and a surprise teammate would bring some life back to the tag division.
United States Championship Match
Randy Orton (C) vs. Bobby Roode vs. Jinder Mahal vs. Rusev
Excitement level: 4
This is another secondary title that has really seemed to get passed around lately. Originally a triple threat match with Rusev being added as a late fourth wrestler to make it a fatal four-way, it doesn’t appear as if WWE has a clear direction for this title. If this match doesn’t end up on the pre-show, it should fall into a meaningless slot like this where people can forget about it.
Prediction: Rusev. It wouldn’t make much sense to add him at the last second and not have him win the title. Plus, the fans clearly want him to win.
SmackDown Women’s Championship Match
Charlotte Flair (C) vs. Asuka
Excitement level: 9
Following a couple of snoozers, this would be a great spot for a big match. After winning the Royal Rumble, Asuka decided to face Charlotte at WrestleMania for the SmackDown Women’s Championship, and here we are. Charlotte has been the strongest-booked female wrestler over the past couple of years until Asuka entered the mix. With Asuka still undefeated, it adds another dimension to this match. Her first loss will inevitably be a huge moment, and I could see WWE saving it for an occasion like this.
Prediction: Asuka. I can’t pick against her yet. If I may give a scorching hot take here, I’ll say Asuka will beat Charlotte and then lose the title in a matter of minutes when Carmella successfully cashes in her Money in the Bank contract.
