Projected Main Card Matches
WWE RAW Tag Team Championship
The Revival (c) vs. Curt Hawkins and Zack Ryder
This match makes me sad. The Revival is perhaps the best tag team in the world, not just WWE. But Dash and Dawson aren’t tall, they’re pudgy, and they don’t have undeniable charisma, so they have no place in Vince McMahon’s company. Meanwhile, Curt Hawkins is on about a twenty year losing streak. The next person or team he beats will be embarrassed, and Vince would love to embarrass the Revival on the biggest possible stage.
Hopefully, this means Dash and Dawson will finally be granted the release they want and can go somewhere they are appreciated.
Prediction: Curt Hawkins and Zack Ryder
WWE Smackdown Live! Tag Team Championship
The Usos (c) vs. The Bar vs. Ricochet & Aleister Black vs. Nakamura & Rusev
I don’t know why this match exists. It just popped up a couple days ago on Smackdown Live! and is somehow on the main card. The Usos have been atop the WWE tag team ranks for years, and unless a title change is going to happen here, it’s not a necessary match.
The only team I can see taking down the Usos is the newly formed Ricochet & Aleister Black, and I hate that. They are two transcendent individual talents that are being wasted in a tag team. So I think they’ll probably win.
Prediction: Ricochet & Aleister Black
WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships
The Boss ‘n’ Hug Connection (c) vs. The IIconics vs. Beth Phoenix & Natalya vs. Nia Jax & Tamina
This is the first match I can say makes me mildly interested because I’m curious to see who will be defending the Women’s Tag Team Championships across all three WWE brands. Beth Phoenix can still wrestle after years of retirement and she forms a very strong team with Natalya, but I can’t see them or Nia & Tamina defending on NXT.
That leaves us with Bayley & Sasha Banks or the IIconics. I think the Boss ‘n’ Hug Connection is the most logical choice here since their reign has been short so far. But, that also makes it a great time for Sasha to unexpectedly turn on Bayley and cost them the titles. The IIconics have been my girls since Peyton Royce’s days as “The Venus Fly Trap,” and I would freak out if they won the titles at WrestleMania. I could definitely see them defending the titles on NXT, as well as RAW and Smackdown Live!
Prediction: The IIconics
WWE United States Championship
Samoa Joe (c) vs. Rey Mysterio
I like both of these guys, but I don’t really care about the outcome of the match. With a last-second Mysterio injury surfacing over the past week, the John Cena train is starting to roll a little more. Still, I don’t think this is the big surprise spot for Cena since the United States Championship is a secondary title. I don’t see Cena winning it or taking a random loss at ‘Mania. I also can’t recall ever seeing Samoa Joe win an important match on a big stage, so I know better than to pick him here.
Prediction: Rey Mysterio
WWE Intercontinental Championship
Bobby Lashley (c) vs. Finn Balor
If it’s possible for me to care less about a match than this, I hope that match never happens. Bobby Lashley just sucks, but the really disappointing thing is how much steam Finn has lost since his debut. He’s still undefeated in his Demon gear, and it looks like he’ll be The Demon tomorrow, but for… reasons… he opted NOT to be The Demon in his UNIVERSAL CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH AGAINST BROCK LESNAR AT THE ROYAL RUMBLE.
Nothing about this makes any sense. I just hope these two are done fighting for a very, very long time when this match ends. So expect the rematch Monday on RAW.
Prediction: Finn Balor
