Shane McMahon vs. The Miz (Falls Count Anywhere)
I really, really didn’t need this match. They’ve kind of generated some heat with Shane turning on the Miz and embracing the role as a bad guy. It’s fun that they are in opposite roles than we typically see from them, but I hope this is the only time they fight each other. The one thing to watch for is the annual Shane McMahon stunt, but in the end, good guy Miz should prevail. I just hope Shane doesn’t die in the process.
Prediction: The Miz
Kurt Angle vs. Baron Corbin (Kurt Angle’s Farewell Match)
A storied career like Angle’s should not end like this in a match with someone so… meh. Granted, it makes sense with the story they’ve been telling, but we all want something bigger. The story writes itself with Angle getting his farewell match against John Cena. Cena made his debut against Angle in 2002, and should be there in Kurt’s farewell.
The one thing giving me hope that Cena shows up is that Kurt already stood tall against Corbin this past Monday on RAW and doesn’t have anything else to prove against him.
Prediction: Kurt Angle def. Baron Corbin OR John Cena def. Kurt Angle
Randy Orton vs. AJ Styles
Another match that we don’t need, yet WWE still put together because it would be weird to leave Randy Orton and AJ Styles off the card. For there not really being anything on the line, these two did a good job building up a conflict pretty quickly. This is the classic “guy born to be in WWE” vs. “guy who had to scratch and claw his way through the indies.” And Randy Orton doesn’t take losses to indie guys.
Prediction: Randy Orton
Triple H vs. Batista (No Holds Barred)
Triple H must retire from in-ring competition if he loses
This all started when Batista ambushed Ric Flair on RAW a couple months ago before Flair’s birthday party to get Triple H’s attention. Yep. But, all Batista ever wanted was a proper send-off at WrestleMania and Triple H gave it to him. Now we all have to suffer through what should be a horrible match, although the high stakes have me moderately intrigued. Batista has done a much better job of building up this match, but I can’t see Triple H retiring by taking a loss to him.
Prediction: Triple H
Roman Reigns vs. Drew McIntyre
What a road it’s been for the Big Dog. Roman announced in 2018 that his Leukemia had returned and took several months off to take care of his health and family. I assumed he’d be out at least a year and didn’t know if he’d ever be back. Four short months later, he made his return and now has a match at WrestleMania.
I’m still not convinced Roman is back to 100% in-ring shape and I think the match itself will be a little underwhelming, but it’s obviously good just to have him back. I can’t see any result other than him beating McIntyre, although I think McIntyre would benefit way more from a win. He’s the kind of guy that could carry the company if given a chance. He can talk, he’s great in the ring, and he looks like a monster.
Prediction: Roman Reigns
