Fans from all over the United States try to one-up each other when it comes to their sports teams. If you’re one of the fortunate fans out there, this takes the form of bragging about titles. If you’re a fan like me, it’s the opposite. I’ve been alive for a grand total of one championship between Minnesota’s four major sports teams combined. I was one year old. 28 years have since passed with not even one championship final appearance.
There is nothing I hate more than hearing people like Red Sox fans complain about their team trading Mookie Betts and David Price for a couple of high level prospects. Must be real tough to endure one year of a semi-rebuild, knowing that they’ll have a hundred million dollars to spend on star players before the 2021 season even starts. Four World Series titles in fifteen years apparently gives people a much different perspective than mine.
Getting back on topic… I created a second fake XFL expansion team to share my pain with others. If you think you have it bad with your teams, read this description and keep in mind about 98% of it is exactly what you get when you are a loyal fan from Minnesota.
They take the first step of a familiar cycle.
Thousands witness the spectacle, filled with hope.
This is their year.
The puzzle pieces change, but the picture does not.
A transient opportunity.
A pivotal mistake.
Middling. Mediocre. Minnesota.
Another chapter is penned in this never-ending tragedy.
Failure manifests in the barren rafters.
Gold is their kryptonite.
The Minnesota Football Team. Playing another season.
In unrelated news, the Minnesota Timberwolves lost their thirteenth game in a row last night. They were defeated by the Atlanta Hawks, 127-120.
